Sad times, the grup has been split up already!
... but still very attractive and felt really nice. Helen had her Lonely Planet guide with her, so we did one of the self walks around the city which took us up to Albert Park where there was a Chinese lantern festival happening to celebrate the Chinese New Year. There were loads of performances, nic nak stalls and food stalls. It was quite ice to just walk around slowly and take it all in.
It’s a shame we didn’t get here earlier ...
Auckland - one of these days...
... en haben wir uns dann aber aufs sehr windige rooftop verzogen. Später gabs noch Saras Kuchen, eine chocolate sausage (etwa eine kalte Hundeschnauze in Salamiform) und „Happy Birthday“ in den native languages aller Anwesenden (deutsch, spanisch, english slangs, finnisch) – und nach jedem Ständchen wurde angestoßen. Alles in allem ein perfekter Tag – viel Sonne, planschen im Pazifik, 3 Kuchen, nette Menschen und viel Spaß.

Little Britain
... to The Bay of Islands and stayed in a place called Russell where we were one of the first people in the world to see in the New Year (13 hours ahead of the UK). Russell is a picture postcard town with Colonial style wooden boarded buildings built into a bay housing dozens of yachts. It boasts a number of firsts including the oldest Church in New Zealand and the first Hotel to have an alcohol license.
