... mongoose and the African civet cat. So, cameras in hand, we went down to the location after dinner and proceeded to marvel at these little animals. Imagine our thoughts when, thinking we were watching native exotic cats, we were informed that they were just domestic cats that hang around to get fed. The civet cats weren't there any more. Oh well, now I can add the common house moggy to my list of sighted African cats!

... of the whole trip, we saw many young animals and babies of all animal types – wildebeest, zebra, lions, cheetahs, leopards, baboons, water buffalo, elephants, giraffe, impala, gazelles, pretty much everything. And Amboseli was no exception. Some of the baby elephants we saw here were tiny - only weeks old. They easily ran underneath their mother's belly, cavorting with each other.

We saw a feisty young zebra, running and jumping and kicking ...

... buffalo and were with three females. They had killed a large male hippo on the 15th near the Olkiombo
sundowner tree and ate off it for three days with the Olkiombo pride of 8 lion. They kill hippo and male buffalo frequently. They are often seen on the south bank of the Talek River near to fig tree camp. Notch the old male is looking his age now and is often seen on the Talek River below the Olkiombo airstrip.

... day. Bags of sweets, pens and pencils - their faces lit up and it was such an amazing moment to give them something. It was safe to say my bag of sweets went down he best and the young boy, maybe 2 or 3 years old grabbed them and ran off holding them above his head like a trophy. This moment topped off another fantastic day and I will be sad to be leaving such a lovely place in a few days time! A few days left to relax before the dreaded 24 hour journey home.....
