    Allegany State Park

We thought it would be a nice full circle if we camped again in upstate New York toward the end of our trip, so we found Allegany State Park in the southern tier of the state. We weren't sure what to expect, and we didn't arrive until about 7:30, but we went to the Quaker Lake area and checked in to the Cain Hollow campground. We had the best …

So Wednesday we woke up after our first night's sleep in the truck outside of a Walmart in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. As we drove it seemed more and more secluded and was kind of creepy…it was much more welcoming in the day!

We had a pretty good night’s sleep and went into Walmart to use their restrooms and grab some breakfast at the subway inside. Once we were fed we drove to Jim’s with a quick stop off at a lay by ...

... remeasured out height  (12' 8") just to be sure and we were ok.Whew.   We also learned that both Sraddha and I have good driving skills on narrow roads, thanks in part, to our having lived in the Sierra foothills where the roads are pretty narrow in places.  All this to say was we had a blast driving this section of historic roads across Pennsylvania. Total Miles Driven so far is ...

Finally in a hotel room, in Jamestown, NY. it cost more than I had planned but totally worth it after a very long drive today. I've driven from Mayville, Wisconsin, through the top of Illinois, across Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and arrived in New York State. So 6 states in one day and over 600 miles. It's fair to say I'm exhausted, and I get to do it again tomorrow to get from New York State to Watertown, MA. One thing I didn't factor into ...
