Am Kleehaufel Vienna, Vienna, Austria
Arrived in Vienna, set up tent nice campsite, if a bit far out. Vienna was a bit dissapointing, some was beautiful, but most of it was a bit too much like an Austrian version of Birmingham. Considering I go to university in Coventry this was a shame. It was 'nice'.. too average.
... can die a happy woman with that knowledge! It was interesting, but I found that the audio commentaries were a little too chatty and you couldn't fast forward it. I can't understand the fascination with this Sisi person either. Everything in Vienna seems to revolve around Sisi and Mozart. Mozart I can see, he accomplished alot. The wife of Franz Josef was a vain anorexic who was rapt up in getting her waist as narrow as possible and brushing her hair ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria eyre... makers were experimenting with. Many of which we don´t even really know about today. After that, I zipped into the armory exhibit. I especially enjoyed the weapons that were combos, like the swords or maces with integrated pistol. A couple highlights of the exhibit included the lantern shield and the mechanical armor. The lantern shield was this amazing piece of work. it was this shield with gauntlet attached. It of course had an oil lantern with flap ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria djbeckman... Rather than being a traveler, it feels like I've moved to Vienna! Last night I went to the CS Vienna Stammtisch. The bar/restaurant was called Tunnel off of Floriangasse and it was literally a 5-10 minutes walk from my dorm at Tigergasse. It was really large and I arrived on my own so it was a bit intimidating at first to meet people who were all grouped up. After a bit, I met some great folks and we ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria madhavi... room with Meredith (my little), Reese and Sarah. The room isn't huge, but there's plenty of room for us and our stuff, and we have our own bathroom with a shower. We had about an hour to get settled and change, then our group met to go on a walking tour of Vienna. There are about 20 people in the group - all students except for our leader, Scott, and another professor, Jane ...
Vienna, Austria anniesnotepod... old imperial palace. We went into the treasury and saw all these crown jewels and coronation robes. There was even a crown in there that dated back to the 11th century. We continued on out the main gate of the palace to find the museums quarter and Parliament, but we really wanted to go and see the famous Nashmarkt. This was an open air market that extended for about 10 blocks, where each vendor had their own permanent structure to sell from. There was everything you ...
Vienna, Austria tmcclurg... very modern and one of the best I've ridden on this trip. While not as big as the Paris or London ones, it's just as efficient and (so far) has been way less crowded. Compared to the Rome Metro, it's downright deserted. I got off at Westbahnhof and walked about 8 blocks to my hostel here. It's quite the party place, with noise emanating out at just about any given time. After getting checked in and dumping my stuff off in the room, I headed out to ...
Vienna, Austria dig_swashb... playing...and my way of remembering and deciphering the 1st movement from the 3rd movement (which sound very alike) was to think of how it always makes me feel sleepy. It was wonderful to see one of the pieces l had studied and almost learnt my heart in head for an exam performed right in front of me by the most amazing orchestra l had ever heard! Konrad and me just looked at each other in one section where the string section and especially the first violins (Konrad's First ...
