Our main reason for being in Houston was to visit the Johnson Space Center (JSC). We arrived at 10am and got a spot right by the entrance, because there were not many people there. We immediately jumped on the site tour. First stop was the actual ground control center used for the 60s to 80s rocket launches. The current ground control center is one floor down. Second stop on the tour was a building where they are developing vehicles and ...

Another drive today, this time to Seabrook which is 20 minutes south of Houston. It was a 4 hour drive and we were surprised by the amount of greenery and trees around during the drive. This morning we left San Antonio and headed northeast to Galveston. We arrived around 1:30pm at our camp site in Dickinson, just north of Galveston Island. There were tons of things going on and there were small parades ...

Our next stop was in Galveston at the "Ocean Star" an offshore drilling rig & museum in the harbor. This was an actual drilling rig that was retired, and converted to a museum. It was very informative and we learned a lot of ...

This morning we are headed for Louisiana on I-10, south on I-12 and then south on I-55 to "San Francisco Plantation" in Garyville, LA. After having a picnic lunch in the truck we toured the plantation. Due to lack of tourists we had a guide all to ourselves to satisfy our questions. It was a beautiful home that Marathon Oil donated to a historical foundation to restore when they purchased all ...
