... Where it is going, or perhaps how far will the American Embassey allow it to go is to be seen in the following weeks or months. For now we can celebrate the freedom that Chabelo today enjoys as he is rejoined to his wife Juana and their children. And a huge thank you to the work of Dunia Perez, from ERIC, Omar Menjivar - Chabelo's main lawyer, the many others who have worked on this case, and of course to Padre Melo. Sometimes there is good news from ...

A travel blog entry by bistromath on Jul 24, 2015

A couple of quiet days as we visit more family and friends in Houston. Picked up new luggage (in anticipation of getting our 'third bag' (which wasn't in good shape). Today we spent the morning in Urgent care facilities for bee stings that Jack sustained on Tuesday evening. He now has two prescriptions to relieve the effects of the bee stings. Our next stop was in Galveston at the "Ocean Star" an offshore drilling rig & museum in the harbor. This was an actual drilling rig that was retired, and converted to a museum. It was very informative and we learned a lot of ...

This morning we are headed for Louisiana on I-10, south on I-12 and then south on I-55 to "San Francisco Plantation" in Garyville, LA. After having a picnic lunch in the truck we toured the plantation. Due to lack of tourists we had a guide all to ourselves to satisfy our questions. It was a beautiful home that Marathon Oil donated to a historical foundation to restore when they purchased all ...
