Wimpy for breakfast in Swakopmund. Passed by the Himba tribe and didn't stop. Bummer. But, got to see the Herero tribe which is a decendent of the Himba tribe with wide hats and clothed from the Dutch influence. ... reason Brandberg is famous. The name Brandberg means "Fire Mountiain", which is due to the effect created by the setting sun on it's slopes. Unfortunately you can only see the northern and eastern slopes from the lodge. Fortunately the sun creates a similar effect at sunrise. Unfortunately this means getting up at sunrise. Fortunately I "manned-up" and dragged myself out of bed, because the sight was quite impressive.

... br> We had a group of locals who came together and danced and sang for us. It was crazy how, with nothing other than their voices, they managed to make such harmonious music. They got us all up at the end to join them for a few songs, which was hilarious, as the massive bugs seemed to join in, as the lights were on, so everyone was screaming and dancing round to try and get them out of their clothes. Morgens um 6:00 trafen wir uns zum Transfer. Mit einem LKW mit Safariaufbau wurden wir in mehr als 2 Stunden um 3/4 des Brandbergs transferiert. Anfangs war es dabei noch rech kalt und wir saßen ja auf der Ladefläche. Der LKW setzte uns dann am Beginn des Westaufstiegs, dem Hungarob-Tal bei 670m ab. Dann ging es zu Fuß weiter.
