... closed, it being the middle of winter at all. NOTE: The 25'C sunshine all day had made us very happy to be here in winter rather than the summer where temperatures are more like 35'C. Our grand choices for dinner were the hotel (Kate said no, it is obligatory to go and explore), two bars with plastic chairs, only men and giant screen TVs blaring out football (Craig said YES...) or an empty little garden restaurant. ... People there informed me one had left some 5 minutes prior to my arrival. another one would arrive in 20 minutes. I did not have that much time. I went inside to the Taxi booth (you should never flag down a taxi at the bus station...they will rob you blind...especially if you are a foreigner). They wanted R$36. I just refused to pay that much. I went back out and was contemplating what to do when I was approached by a taxi driver. ...

... October a lot easier. For my b-day, I will be going to Cabo Frio (beach town) with a girl from France named Élodie. She is working as a nanny for one of the French families here in Macaé. She's so awesome, I really like her. I've been practicing my French so much with her, she's been a great help. In return, I help her with English and Portuguese. We're gonna go make some trouble this weekend. I'll come here and tell you all about it (with pictures of course). Tchau for ...
