A group of 22 wide eyed indian tourists set for the sri lankan jungles ,to see the flora n fauna ,all of them were well trravelled and their knowledge about the birds n animals and trees n flowers was amazing , even the guide was surprised ,and felt a bit shameful about his lack of knowledge.

... each town specialized in certain things e.g. one town sold nothing but pottery, another had furniture, baskets, mats, brooms etc. made out of cane wood.
The type of crops grown here are bananas, pineapples, mangps, cocoanuts, green skin oranges, jackfruit, beets, carrots, lettuce, radishes, cucumbers, peppers, onions, leeks etc. just to name afew. There are alot of rice paddies which produce 2 seasons of planting and growing and some worked by water buffalos.

... one time was fashioned to look like a Lion’s mouth (Sigiriya translates to Lion’s Rock). While most of it has been destroyed, the colossal paws of the lion are still very much visible and impressive even on its own.
In my humble opinion, the wonder and beauty that defines Sigiriya is very much deserving of it being named the “8th Wonder of the World”. Now there is currently a proposal in place to allow this to happen. Let’s hope ...
