... tourists for a couple of days to clear illegal settlements. Instead headed to Castillo Grand and spent a nice couple of days relaxing, reading and sunbathing there. Was much quieter than Boca Grande but still got the odd hawker and a strange Colombian wannabe writer who kept wanting to chat. Slightly annoyingly they turned all the water in Cartagena off for 24 hours so no showers, flushing toilets, tap water, etc. Stayed up late chatting to Canadian guys, Swedish guy ...

... end we ate our evening meal, and did our best to stay up longer than 9pm as it got dark at 5pm and spent hours by candle light joking and playing cards.

The third morning was more adventurous section, mules could not transport our food for this section so our guide had to carry our supplies. ... I never expected to stumble upon such tender, juicy steak in Colombia but I have to say, it was just as good as the famous Alberta beef steaks at home. They really do love there cheese here and we love that they love it. We stopped for a few drinks after dinner back at our hostel lounge and then called it a night.

... picking up rocks and trying to stack them so Emily had somewhere above water to put her feet...she slipped about a meter from the end and both feet got wet. We were only 15 minutes from the end though. It was so good to take our shoes and socks off at the end of that day! Emily's feet and ankles remained swollen for about 3 days after the trek and our legs were covered in bites. We made it though and had a great time getting there... Slightly nervous about Macchu Picchu now ...

... looking for hidden stashes. No luck so far but a few weeks before we got there they had the pool drained and the metal detector out!!! I did give a quick run around knocking on the walls to no avail!

Anyway getting collected in the morning to start off the first of our 5 days of trekking in the jungle! Hope the mossies aren't too hungry and the hills too ...
