Ahhhh Tayrona National Park, the Holy Grail! Almost all our travels in South Amecia have led to this point . Everyone we have met who has been here has said this beautiful place would be a highlight of our trip and the best way to end our travels in this amazing continent. So we were pretty excited and after catching the local bus to Tayrona and walking one of the sweatiest hours of our lives to the first camp ...

... it on my teeth. The section was broken up by a few stops at local houses where the locals were selling drinks or a sit down and some lovely fresh fruit provided by Daniel. When we reached the top it was thankfully a downhill jaunt to our first camp for the night. ... not down-hearted. Checked into an amazing hostel in Santa Marta called Masaya, which appears to have been built as a luxury hotel and had rooms converted to dorms. Two spotlessly clean pools. Rooftop bar and open air kitchen for guests to use. Wasn't much atmosphere but I spent a pleasant few days there bathing in the sunshine, having decided to go to Cartagena later than planned because it seemed too expensive.

It was time for me and the big S ...

... in our room with us. Feeling a little deflated, we had a few beers and spent the afternoon and evening at the hostel, avoiding the task of hauling our bodies up and down the steep stairs to the town centre. I in particular, felt further frustrated with the amount of people wandering up the stairs to our balcony, thinking it was part of the common area. A simple mistake seeing as there was nothing to suggest it is part of a room, due to the non existent ...
