The Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceicao Velha gets an entry for the pure fact that it has the name Nossa in it. This church was built in the 15th century and was apparently built on top of an old synagogue. Like everything else in this town it was destroyed in the earth quake of 1755 and was rebuilt in 1770. ... but that's what I did. Cheaper than getting an airport hotel anyway. So I caught the bus at 10.30pm and arrived at 11.30pm and settled in for the night in my little makeshift bed, which consisted of about 6 restaurant stool chair things placed close together in a corner of a café. I put my bags behind the 'bed' so I wouldn't have to worry about them getting taken. Although to be fair, the only other people on the airport were other poor souls with very early morning flights ...
