... the late afternoon, thus arriving in Colombo in the evening. As this wasn't feasible we took our chances in 2nd class and got there 90 minutes beforehand and got the prized left hand seats. The journey went off without incident, no trees this time and as we weren’t actually going to Colombo we disembarked in Ragama and caught a connecting train to Negombo.
