Ajaccio is a beautiful peaceful island, definitely worth a revist. It sits in the Mediterranean 50 miles west of Italy and 100 miles south of France. Not part of the mainland as I thought but is
in under French rule. Napolean Bonaparte was born here, for those who care. We spent the day at the beach, crystal clear water and a nice ...

There were some impressive markets on not far from the wharf. There were some numerous amounts of cheese and olives, tapenades, jams, chutneys ....the works.!!! These French people love their cheeses and olives.
Lunch was scrumptious as usual with leek quiche, grilled cod, and mushroom ...

... Another quaint town, and very commercialised with lots and lots of cafe's, restaurants and shops, boutiques. There was a huge Ferry as big almost as a cruise ship pulled in from Monaco ( we think) carrying passengers and their cars to the Island for their holiday break.
    Monday 3rd August
Went walking at 7am as usual, it's usually very quite in the morning, as last night we were serenaded by a band not far away ...
