    The tour description said that we would travel along narrow, steep curving roads and people with vertigo or fear of heights should not take this tour. The roads were not too bad at the beginning, but we were on a full size bus and there were a couple times where the driver had to wait for a car to pass before we took a curve. However, the road grew steeper and narrower as we began our drive along the Prunelli River Gorge. ...

    ... outlying islands and others vary from an hour to a couple of hours. We didn't want to spend a whole day on the water so we went for a short cruise that would show us the main things. The main things being amazing caves, grottos and islands. We went fully into one grotto, I thought I was over my cave "thing", apparently it doesn't apply to grottos. Having just seen how huge chunks of the cliff face can fall ...

    ... me as being a strong hold for the rich and famous - many yachts and restaurants and not much else, harbour-side. But up in the old town it seems the village has a nice "hum" about it. Our hotel is built inside the old citadel and there are many, many, steps down to the harbour, and many, many steps back up. it actually feels like twice as many with some vodka's and red wine your belt. I think maybe we will eat up hill ...

    Within minutes of arriving on the French Island of Corsica, we noticed a big difference from Italy. The roads are organised, sign posted and in comparison to Sicily the cars are massive...and newer. There is hardly any rubbish by the side of the roads (& there are even recycling bins). First hand proof that there are some benefits to paying taxes.... and less organised crime over the centuries probably helps as well! It's now the last week of ...

    ... to middle age.
    For all except graham the mountain scenery was spectacullar. He said all he could see was the white line when we had one, in the middle of road.
    Arrived at Corte - staying at different hotels. Thunder and lightening and heavy rain. Waited a while for it to subside then g&j dropped us off at our hotel.
    Sat on the patio and watched the river rambling by.
