Tattoo Me
May 1, 2006 (4 photos) The burly, shaven-headed biker with a needle in my back chuckles when he explains that he's not allowed to travel to Canada or the US because he once shot a man. "The motherfucker deserved it," he reasons. Hells Angels posters cover the wall above me, in ...

A helping hand
Feb 2, 2005 ... to try to understand what people are saying to him. His English isn't terribly good. He's been sent here alone, all the way to Australia, as part of a course of study to learn about wine growing. And I do feel sorry for him. Most people are here by choice, ...

Leaving Adelaide, first attempt
Jan 30, 2005 ... I cut back on my spending a little and make some visits to the supermarket - which is where you'll find most backpackers in Australia. Lurking around the meat counters, waiting for the ' mark-downs ' at about 5 o'clock. I change my phone's SIM card too and ...

Last day in Adelaide
Mar 3, 2008 (4 photos) ... HOT one today! The forecast was for a high of 32 C but it's still 30 C just now and it's almost 7pm. We'd always heard Australia (well the West and South at least) experienced a dry heat, rather than the humid heat we've had in, say, Mexico. We were never ...
