Well, all good things come to an end, they say, and this it for me... A rather ignominious end... but so be it. With the owners arriving a few days early, and lacking any reasonable accommodation in Papeete (everything cheap booked up for the festival), I decided to change my flights and make an early exit, stage left...which meant I would miss ...

Sunday is pretty well dead in Tahiti so we lazed around the pension until we had to check out. We walked to town and got Le Truck to the airport and checked the bags at a storage room. There was an internet cafe at the airport but it was closed because the server was down. So, intending to sneak into the beach, we caught Le Truck to the Intercon...

Our flight to Pape'ete was not until half 9 at night so we spent another relaxing day in the tropical garden with little excursions to the village for foodie treats. But apart from that we just sat in the sun and chatted. Later on we got transfered to the tiny airport (which has been extended to act as an emergency landing for the space shuttle)...

After a good flight we arrived at the airport with our bags packed so we only had to take one with us round the islands. Wow... what a day again! Today took the ferry to Moorea, Tahiti's neighbor island. There we went to the Dolphin center where we swam with Dolphins - probably one of those dreams that everyone has at one point within his childhood. It was great - how intelligent are those animals! Je voulais quand même vous décrire l'épopée de notre pêche dans le lagon : à 16h30 on est allé poser 100m de filet dans le lagon entre 1.5m et 2m de profondeur. Jusque là pas de soucis. Par contre à 20h30, donc en pleine nuit (car il fait nuit vers 18h30) on est reparti en bateau chercher les filets. Et le collègue au lieu de remonter le filet ...

We flew all night ... and, of course, one arrived Papeete around One o'clock in the morning. With the odds that one's flight will be delayed, there is no point in getting a hotel room. Fortunately, we know where the only three benches in the Papeete airport can be found ... and we made a bee-line to them.
