Anyone for Soccer?

A travel blog entry by tholdsworth89 on Aug 10, 2014

... joined us for the very short walk to the BC Place stadium in downtown. The stadium was well-located and had an impressive design, but we entered to find a huge canopy covering the upper half to restrict the capacity for 'soccer' games. The next two hours were just bizarre. A singing section built the words 'Vancouver' and 'Whitecaps' into any song they could think of, groups waved flags of random countries and people of all ages would tamely shout "you fat *******" each time the ...

... t able to get a seat near the front so were stuck on an aisle seat right at the back. It's a real squeeze trying to fit an adult and a large infant plus all the clutter onto one seat. Thankfully they added a bit of dirt to make that part a little tamer though the boys in front baulked ...

... Mushroom soup, finishing off with fruit and yoghurt. We noted that kids under 12 ate for free. After getting our bill we started laughing. Apart for it being really cheap, but Matthew was classed as a 12 year old! He is only 10.

The afternoon was spend sleeping / watching 'Retro' Cartoons, such as Bugs Bunny cartoons from 1960's, Garfield, Flindtones ( the early version before kids) and Tiny Toons, followed up with a dose of Rin ...

... a few bucks. We talked to two German girls in the bungalow next to us and they recommended a restaurant down the beach to eat at. Dinner was fantastic and considering we were on a secluded island it was quite reasonable and delicious! Baked fish with mozzarella and tomato sauce with sautéed vegetables for $8?! Sign us up!

The weather on the island was dreary and it spat rain quite often. Apparently they had beautiful weather for a few days right up until ...
