... br> We travelled through the beautiful Tongariro National Park, through Rotorua until we finally arrived in Lake Rotoiti. Lake Rotoiti (pronounced Ro-toe- wheati and don't ask me where we get the “w” in that pronuncition) is about a 15 minute drive north of Lake Rotorua. ... said no cheese - thank goodness. Howard had cheese in his cooked breakfast and it was this nasty plastic orange stuff. My scrambled eggs had tomato and onion in them and came with roasted potatoes and slabs of toast. The coffee is not coffee as we know it so I won't be having that again! Thank goodness I bought some Jed's real NZ coffee squeezie bags with us. Off in search of the elusive lobster for dinner.....

Post note:
Timing issues eventually sorted out and they gave us a time of 2.48 which gave us 6th for the day. Looking back we took the start too easy and allowed less experienced riders to get in front of us but then hold us up on the first decent. But that is fine as we made it through without incident - one poor rider hit a steel bollard on the first bridge 1km in and his race was then over :(
