Toller Aufenthalt in Lissabon!

from JasmineWhite

An absolute gem!

Didn't actually get to meet Luis, who seems like a thoroughly nice guy - posted my wife's passport back at no charge after she forgot it.

I was left in the hands of Jorge and Juan (thanks guys!), who were invaluable at telling us where to go, how to get there, recommending restaurants - basically only things a local would be able to tell you. They pointed out some great places, and helped us plan getting the most out of our stay.

The room was lovely, with TV, DVD player, a small ensuite, and an amazing terrace. The terrace is great, with loungers, and an amazing view of the castle. There was a telescope on the terrace as well, if you wanted to stargaze, or check out anything else in the city. The property itself is situated on a very atmospheric street, with nice cafes, bars and resturants just downstairs (no noise, so don't worry). There was a larger TV in the lounge, where I met some of the other guests, along with a load of DVDs and CDs, so you could always take one back to your room to watch it, or watch it right there. There was free internet access, as well as a printer, so it was really easy to check in and print off my boarding pass etc.

It's really convenient for both the Baixa/Chiado as well as the Bairro Alto, so we just got to walk everywhere.

5 stars for this place - every single aspect of my stay was brilliant, right from booking it, to long after leaving. It's not so much a B&B as staying with a friend (who has great taste!).

I'd read much of the breakfasts on here, and I can safely say there's

absolutely no way you won't love them.

The restaurant downstairs was really nice as well - the waiters were all really friendly and know Luis, so you're in safe hands all the way!

Luis - thanks for a really great time.

El mejor hotel para conocer Lisboa

from Anayfamilia

Volveremos a ir all? siempre que volvamos a Lisboa.

Sublime. Perfect in every way.

I just returned from three wonderful days with my partner in Lisbon, where I stayed at the Zuzabed and Breakfast. I can honestly reccomend it as being the most enjoyable place I have ever stayed. The location could not be better - on a beautiful pedestrian street in Rossio which is a five minute walk to the Bairro Alto, Baixa, and Chiado shopping. The four cosy rooms are classy and tastefully decorated (the pictures on Zuzabed's website are extremely accurate - check them out), and the view from the windows/balconies is breathtaking. Luis, the wonderful host, is extremely kind, informative, present to answer questions, and fun to talk to over the lavish breakfasts. At the same time, it is clear that despite Zuzabed's small size he has the utmost respect for and works to maintain guest privacy. While it's certainly not a place for families, it's a perfect romantic retreat, especially for us students on a splurge as it is a great value. I wish all those lucky enough to stay there a wondeful time in Lisbon, and continued success for Zuzabed.

Great Welcome to Lisbon!

from JasmineWhite

Myself and my husband stayed here in August and like all the other reviews before this it was great. Luis was great, his breakfasts were great, the decor was great, the location and the views were great. Would love to go back again and hopefully we will : )

Better is impossible! I was impressed!

from Recarg

I found Zuzabed on a typical google search. When i saw the website and after read the WELCOME i had the feeling that it was a good place to stay.

After the 1st email from LUIS i had the feeling Zuzabed it would be definetly the best place for us to stay in Lisbon. It seems you are having correspondance from a friend. I loved that. I felt myself very most welcome since then and i started counting the days to land in Lisbon.

LUIS was amazing since the very first moment. He carryed the luggage up the stairs (that's why he cancelled the gym - he said :) ) and the welcome drink (Gin&Tonic, very well prepared by his very best friend ;) LUIS) and chat gave us a very relaxing moment after a very trouble arrival in Lisbon right after the problem we had with EasyJet (they lost our luggage). But then we forgot our problems after we got there. We really felt at home.

What better a person can ask when you decide to go to a foreigner country?

Luis booked us the Terrace Garden room. A "small room in the house" (has he honestly advised us on the emails) but a beautiful a confortable one. The decoration, simple and charming gives you a relaxing environement, perfect to relax after all you do during the day in the city. Actually all the house gives you a calm environement that you really need. All the decoration is very nice. It was my home for those 5 nights in September.

The room is kept very very clean all days and then you have the amazing breakfast. A real 4 stars hotel breakfast. Fresh orange juice daily made, fresh fruit salad daily made, yogurths, actimel (a kind of yogurth good for the stomach), coffee, milk, tea, water, sweets (lots of) fresh bread all mornings, eggs (scrumble, boiled, fried), butter, ham, cheese, 2 kinds of jam, cereals, muesli, honey!!! Uff!!! Beleive me it's a amazing breakfast served on a very beautiful table that Luis likes to set all mornings.

And the terrace!! Uff!! You can dream about it... In the morning you wake up with the birds right in front of the terrace where in the garden they like to play. This is something amazing knowing you are in the center of everything in the most charming area of Lisbon.

Beleive him (Luis) when he tells you that Zuzabed is in the center. I was impressed everytime i asked him about something to see that i marked on my book and the answer was almost always 3/4 minutes walking from there. And it was.

For dinner you cannot have a better person to suggest you. Don't hesitate to ask him. The Cantinho das Gáveas Restaurant his first option as a suggestion is a very good tip. You can go there twice!

During all our stay we really felt at home and the idea that we have new friends in Lisbon is something that we really will beleive for a long time. Like Janet (my wife) says we are very lucky and happy to have clicked on the Zuzabed & Breakfast website.

Thanks for everything Luis&Luis. For us the defenition of B&B is now very high. That it's good. Thanks a lot for that.

Delightful Stay in Lisbon

from YellowCrazyFish

ZuzaBed lies in the old part of Lisbon in a sloping sidewalk which is for pedestrians only. You can walk easily around the Baixa, Chiado, Bairro Alto and Rossio. The trainstation is about 3minutes walking distance.

ZuzaBed is a small B & B with only 4 rooms. We have been at the Vintage Room. It has a double bed with a good hard mattress :-D and a shower with toilet, everything is spotless clean and neat. The room is decorated nicely, with beautiful little details. Even though the room is small, it is comfortabel enough for 2 Adults. We had a big window with view !

Breakfast buffet is at the big table in the Living Room which has musik, TV and free internet access. Having breakfast there has the benefit that you will talk to all the nice guests sooner or later.

Breakfast is: fresh orange juice, coffee, tea, milk and water. There is fruit salad, yogurt, jam, bread, sweets, cereals and eggs (cooked, scrambled, fried egg).

The host Luis is a very friendly person that gave us very good advice what to to and see in Lisbon.

Luis, thanks again for this wonderful stay !

We will come back for sure !

FANTASTIC PLACE, a gem in Lisbon

from Michelle1975

Zuzabed is a fantastic place right in the centre of the lively part of Lisbon. Luis, the host, was fantastic, he made us feel at home, he gave us advice and information about Lisbon and Portugal. The location is fantastic and I can recommend the Terrace Castle Room, here you can use the terrace to chill out after a day of sightseeing and you can enjoy the breathtaking view of St George Castle and Lisbon.

Teh rooms are comfy, clean and furnished in a very modern but pleasant way, you will find all you need in them!

The breakfast was amazing, fresh orange juice, fresh fruit salad, fresh bread and fantastic scramble eggs, and not to forget the cakes or sweets we tried...

We came back for our last night in Porutgal before flying back home, that is the wasy a holiday should end!

Well done Luis, see you soon!

Great location, great hospitality

from slurve

We had a great stay at Zuzabed in the beginning of September. It was the first leg of a month-long European trip and was definitely the nicest place we stayed in.

The room (Vintage room) was spotless. It had a nice (and a bit firm) queen size bed, satellite TV on a flat panel, clean bathroom with towel drying rack, room to store bags and hang clothes and best of all: gorgeous views of the Sao Jorge Castle and the rest of Lisbon from the window.

The hospitality was even better. Luis (the owner) cooked a fantastic breakfast each morning and was available to offer advice and tips each day. We had a great time talking with him (and the other guests) each morning at breakfast (which is available from 8:30 to 10:30 each day and consisted of eggs, yogurt, bread, cheese, meat, coffee, OJ, pastries, etc). Luis even drove us to the train station at the end of our stay! Amazing hospitality.

We'd love to visit Zuzabed and Lisbon again someday. Definitely a memorable experience.

Zuzabed forever

from neverstop

It was a wonderfull unexpected experience! It really felt like home. Zuzabed is, for sure, the best place to stay in Lisboa, with the best host in the world, Luis, that made my vacations became the best I ever had, with all is patience, advices and recomandations. The atmospheer can compete with the best of Portugal. I loved it!

The location couldn't be better, right in the midle of everything you need, not talking about the area, that is something...

The room, soooooooo charming, soooooo romantic, very well decorated, very chick. The view from the room and terrace to the castle and baixa are fenomenal. And last the breakfast, is to die for. Everything is made fresh, different special things each day.

I definitely recommend Zuzabed for anyone who loves this concept.

CONGRATULATIONS Luis.

GREAT place! I will go back!
