Thankfully for our trip to Yachats (pronunciation - imagine Price William saying "yes, hats") it didn't rain all day and we did see some amazing views along the way. This is where the coastline started to become extra special, resulting in far too many photo stops, although we chose not to linger too long with the bird watchers near the sight of the Great Tsunami of 1700. We crossed the 'world's smallest ...

8:38am Another nice run to start the morning. And a little time to reflect. I've refrained from discussing campsite neighbours to this point but the following needs to be documented for posterity: our neighbours, two sides down, are skids. BC skids - a national embarrassment. They don't know it, probably wouldn't own it, but skids they are. Nice rig but bursting at the seams with at least five kids and two big dogs. ... on the sand dunes and visiting the sea lion caves were real highlights as well.

As we continued on the road, passing some spectacular coastline, we crossed the Oregon border to California and ventured into the heart of the 'Redwood Forest' for a touch of hiking. The girth and height of these trees was quite breathtaking and yet again, we were blessed with gorgeous weather. No bigfoot sightings to record ...

... left long beach and drove on southwards and crossed the border to Oregon State. Fabulous coastal views all day. Long deserted beaches and blue seas on our right, and forests of trees on the left. It was like this for the next 100 miles.

This was a Sunday and the last day of the Labour Day holiday here. Schools go back on Tuesday so ...
