... it has cycle lanes throughout the city, the adjacent countryside and most spectacularly on the ramparts and city walls built in the 15th and 16th centuries. The walls surround and define the city for over 9 kilometres of its perimeter. I've been promised a walk around them.

The weather is good, Ferrara interesting with much to do, we will be here for some time.

... park in the center of the rounabout with Julia in the sunshine. Ensue hard core people watching. Finally notice the broken clock from the station bombing a number of years ago. Didn't notice at first because it actually WAS that time of day weird. Grabbed some snacks. On to platform #8. Rats. Not a bullet train, but it will do. Tah.

... is infectious. Laurel, Julia, Amanda, and I had lunch in a little cafe in the Piazza so we could absorb everything going on. We finally managed to coincide our lunch time with siesta time. The meal itself was so-so but the sunshine and entertainment couldn't be better. ... via Rialto Laurel found this incredible vintage store and she found a Coco Chanel skirt. Jodi found a lemon yellow swing coat. Very awesome. We had some styling ladies at dinner that night. And of course walking around the city for 10 hours has to be rewarded with gelato. Can't keep away from that dolce mu, pistachio and hazelnut. I am pretty sure those workers dread seeing our faces everyday.

Any who, we caught the #35 bus at the train station. Lo and behold this bus spits you out at the correct entrance to the book fair. There were not any programs that I was particularly interested in seeing today, so I focused on the Illustrator exhibit and the book sale area. The illustrations were incredible.
