      Trip down the Coast

A travel blog entry by maustravels on Feb 03, 2015

We drove down the coast via US 101 to Astoria ....interesting small town with a large logging port as well as fishing boats. There is a huge bridge spanning the Columbia River to Long Beach Wash. And another bridge down the coastline of Oregon. We passed lots of logging trucks and hills that had been clear cut at some point. Went through Seaside which was very tacky and crowded and eventually came to ...

The morning was foggy but by 10 am, as predicted, the fog had lifted and gone out to sea - like it seems to do up and down this west coast - in San Francisco and La Jolla. ... with waterfalls spilling over their edges into the ocean below and fine sandy beaches begging to be surfed. What better place to start off our Oregon Coast adventure than here! After a long hike the first day, the preceding two days were full of enjoying the small town of Cannon Beach and renting surf gear to surf the beach of Short Sands where a couple good swells were suppose to be coming in over the next couple days. And those swells we did enjoy!Yesterday and today ...

... perceive and experience things. I could have remained frustrated about the site and let the beauty of this awe inspiring rugid yet serene coast line we are experiencing take the back seat so my poor attitude could have the front seat, but right there I learned a very simple yet profound lesson and I chose to let this experience of the Oregon Coast have the front seat! And now I can say four nights later I am so glad I made that ...
