      ... to crank up the volume and from then till about 3:00 in between sleeps the screaming and shouting and yelling started. Still I put this down to Friday night fever and we did get around 8 hours plus sleep so woke up feeling refreshed and yabbering about the noise last night. Our room is on the 6th floor overlooking Geary St (busy street) but is okay although wouldn't call it deluxe. So welcome to the US of A folks. More to come cheers the travelling ...

      It was getting quite late so we got Erin's phone to navigate us to the Samuel Taylor State Park near Fairfax where I had booked our first two nights. It was nearly dark by the time we arrived but to our relief "CHARLES - 029" was one of the names listed on the un-manned ranger hut at the camp entrance so we drove in, found plot 29 and parked up. Jet lag kicking in big time (it was afterall 5am GMT) we set up the beds and crashed.
