... a drink, banana and a snack for tomorrow. We got back to the van and did some planning for our journey back to the coast and down highway 1. Think our plan is to see the elephant seals up near Santa Cruz. Luckily we spotted some showers on our walk back so nipped to them to have a shower. ... in cut off made us push the clock a bit through the mountains. Trusting check out procedure...throw the keys in a basket in the driveway as you leave. Could have had a free souvenir there! Yosemite lodge (just outside the valley) -yet another third storey room to drag bags up to. Television from the 90s. Somewhat dubious window arrangement in the bathroom...questionable privacy. I think there solution to a previous complaint about this must have been to hang ...

After another hearty breakfast at the Handlery we checked out and made our way to Alamo to collect our hire car. I seemed to have been nominated first driver by the family so I found myself driving through a very busy San Francisco with David map reading and George getting to grips with the sat nav which for some reason she named Valerie! We left over the Bay Bridge to Oakland on the Interstate 880, then the 580 ...
