... beach! WE ATE/DRANK: - BBQ of assorted wagyu beef with kimchi, rice and salad - mango beer and pineapple beer WE LOVED: - having a really chilled day after the typhoon stress (we still don't know whether we'll be stranded tomorrow but hey ho!) - getting told by the receptionist that by ticking to not have our towels/sheets etc changed every day we'd accumulated enough points to select a gift from the reception. We choose.... A (souvenir tea) ...

... WE LOVED: - spending time with and getting to know Sao and Tan - the opportunity to see areas of the island we otherwise wouldn't have been able to - the gleaming white sand and crystal clear sea, which you didn't even need to go snorkelling to see a few fish swimming around in the shallows. They even decided to give James a free pedicure which was received with a few (a lot of!) ...

WE DID: - ferry to Iriomote where we met our guide for the day - minibus from port to jungle - kayak down river to the sea through mangroves - trek through jungle to the basin of the waterfall for a cup of tea and a biscuit (and a waist high dip!) - trek up through the jungle to the top of the waterfall (passing a baby habu (poisonous snake, see Day 32 for other reference!) and crabs, frogs ...

    Day 33: Ishigaki

WE DID: - monorail to Naha airport for our flight to Ishigaki, then bus from Ishigaki airport to the port - borrowed the hotel bicycles and cycled to the nearest beach, where we had a dip in the sea and relaxed on the sand - James really got into the beachy spirit here by buying himself ...
