After our hike through the Tiger Leaping Gorge we headed back south in the Yunnan provence and decided to make a short stop in the old town of Lijiang before going to the city of Kunming for our Vietnam Visa application.

Leaving the Tiger Leaping Gorge we took a bus down south to the city of Lijiang, a UNESCO world cultural heritage site famous for its architecture and Venice-like channels (yes again after Suzhou ;-)), but apparently also a major tourist destination. Let’s see how the situation is at end of November during the apparent off-season.

We chose the Maple Leaf Inn for its great reviews on Trip Advisor and it has completely lived up to it. It also shares a name with the B&B we have gone to the last two winters in Vermont!
