Beach and more rainforest
It took awhile to leave Airlie Beach after saying good-bye to our lovely neighbours and the parents of the friends the kids had made, luckily we were not going far and got to Blacks Beach in Mackay by lunchtime. Really lovely beach side spot and not too far from the main town of Mackay.

The Adventure Begins (Again)
... gasped. It was like looking down the barrel of a glacier-gun. It probably was at some point. A flat valley with the meandering Cattle Creek and road likewise, framed by immense hills of gorgeous trees.
The Rainforest was of course epic. Everything was huge and alive. I was a little wary of snakes but we didn't even see one the whole time and we hiked 14km or so.

Over the course of a few days all supply routes into this main hub city, including its airport, had been cut by flood waters. Misty mountains and monotremes
