After landing at JFK, we maneuvered the Air Train and then a couple of subway trains to arrive in lower Manhattan late afternoon. We stopped at O'Hara's bar for a couple of drinks, which helped us ease into the time zone change and experience the camaraderie of the seasoned bartender and his clientele. Today was my day off. I was able to relax a bit today. As many of you know, I heard that I did not make the Junior Worlds Frisbee team, but I didn't let that affect me much. ... Donuts, for those of you that have watched Man vs. Food. We waited in a 15 minute line to get 2 donuts. While waiting we were entertained by a homeless singer. Portland does seem to have a lot of homeless or homely people. The donuts were good but we don't think it was worth all the hype.

Tomorrow we leave for either a 10 mile, 10 falls hike or towards the west coast to drive down I-101.

This was the last visit on the list. We knew where to go, knew that a while ago it had erupted, but that's about all. The ride in was nice, and we had a map which showed a little dead end road which didn't go that close. We took it. Thank goodness.
