We finally had some sunshine for our journey to Tofino! Long Beach was pretty cool with some huge waves, a couple of surfers, and lots of washed up kelp. We had another fabulous picnic lunch, on the beach and in the sun this time, while we fought off the attention of all the seagulls. We got a few pictures with the digital camera on the beach, but there should be some more awesome pics from Mike's film camera on the way, its been really hard to find ...

And after that I did something even more exotic - I took a nice, long nap! Now that's luxury! Felt great after all those days on the road.

Then some supper - canned soup in my own little kitchenette! Nothing fancy but feels comfy to just eat quietly on my own. A restaurant here would involve driving 10 minutes into town and I just didn't feel like it. That's about the only drawback ...

... landen was minder hobbelig dan we hadden gedacht. Ruim 35 minuten hebben we zitten genieten! Ook van bovenaf is Vancouver Island een fantastisch stuk van de wereld. En het spotten van een walvis maakte deze belevenis extra speciaal.

... Er versorgt uns mit allmöglichen Informationen und hat immer einen lockeren Spruch auf den Lippen, gleichzeitig strahlt er die Ruhe eines typischen Inselbewohners aus. ... hardly any of them. Although the town has under 2000 permanent residents, at each spot we went to there was literally upwards of 100 people who had also decided to come out and learn how to surf. I guess that's what happens when you have a nation of 33 million people and roughly less than 5 surfing towns to choose from on the west coast.
