Today was our first day at the Elementary Mathematics Laboratory. The EML is a course taught by Deborah Ball at The University of Michigan. ... Normally this would be a challenge for me, but two days on the road got me into the early-waking mindset. We first raised the outer walls of the hoop houses to let in fresh air, then began weeding the lettuce beds. The entire first day was weeding -- nine hours of it -- which is pretty much what I was expecting, though I didn't realize quite how much had to be done.
