1:30am.. two days from start of 2500 mile sailboat race across the pacific. Lets see .. you could write this by now right:

Boarded the plane at 10:28pm on Tuesday. Had chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner on the plane at 11pm. Read a little and slept a little. Said the flight wasn't much longer than the one to Florida (which means she slept quite a bit!). Didn't eat the breakfast.

Later that afternoon, Rachael, Matilda, and I went to a coffee shop in Chelsea for a few hours to get some work done and then on an easy hike in a local nature preserve. Rachael, having studied botany and ecology in college, was able to identify different plants along the trail, though we called the hike off early due to the copious amount of hungry mosquitoes in the area.

Our host in Washington told us not to bother with Detroit since it had gone bankrupt and was a pretty bad place to be - high crime, low prospects and nothing to see. However, having enjoyed the Amish trip from our book so much we thought we'd follow the Motown trip regardless, plus the hotels were cheap and we got 2 nights at the Marriott for less than £100 so if nothing else it would be a good chance to chill and unwind.
