    It would have been a shame to miss a paddling opportunity after coming up to Saranac Lake. Otto kindly offered to take us to the Franklin Falls Flow - an easy and pleasant paddling experience. We passed the section of the river that has rapids for a mile or so - was it class 2 or 3?

    ... the ruined houses near the road which had stunningly beautiful ruined interiors. I marveled that the shingles looked better on some surfaces than my garage siding.     ... a mile to the top. There we had a 360 degree of the landscape-an amazing view in to both Vermont and Canada. We went down much more quickly then we went up-an 246 ft. elevator ride to the bottom.
