Both performances used an Ugly Stick as one of their musical instruments. Its a funny little thing made from an old mop handle, bottle caps, and a old rubber boot. They use a little stick to tap it as they keep the beat of the boot while pounding it down to the floor. The caps jingle and jangle along to the guitar and accordion that accompany it. Pretty neat thing that we’ve yet to get a proper photo of to share with you.

We left Woody Point in Gros Morne National Park this morning and traveled eastward to Twillingate. This stop was made part of our itinerary because of Twillingate's designation as the "Iceberg Capital of the World" and we had hoped to see one, or even a few. Nine out of 10 years, this week in June would be an ideal to see them here. However, we rolled into town and found out that this is not the year. While there are several icebergs to the northwest of here near St. Anthony’s ...

Hurricane Earl tried to make an appearance at our FREE campsite at Rattling Brook on Green Bay, but only managed a blustery evening and morning with some strong wind gusts. It was warm and a lovely day to fly Piglet as Pooh might say! Hiking up to Rattling Brooks Falls (1km each way) up 206 stairs through a lush moss covered forest was the way we started our morning and well worth it. It is a 800 ft. falls tumbling down the mountainside through many ...
