... the ankle folks!

Speaking of hiking, Mount Greylock happens to be part of the mighty Appalachian Trail (lets call it AT for short!) As in the AT! At 2,100 miles long running from the State of Georgia all the way through to Maine you could say the 5 1/2 month expedition is one hell of a hike laced with all sorts of nasty surprises along the way...not to mention a few blisters!

... for sure since tonight was a write-off in the way of getting things done. If it's really too late we can stay here another night I'm sure although we have not asked- this is actually the first night that we pay to stay in a marina so I guess it's not the end of the world if we have to stay on one more. Without even walking far off the marina grounds there is already more at our fingertips here than in most places we have been lately. We'll see what tomorrow ...

... back to beautiful river views. Our anchorage at Houghtaling Island was very pretty and we felt like we were in a jungle..... the birds were so loud and as the afternoon progressed the crickets took over. In the morning we were lucky to see a bald eagle right near our boat... after the fog lifted a little. We waited a little until it was clear before Marty pulled up the anchor. It was really hard to get up and really muddy- but we wouldn't have gone anywhere in any wind for ...

... known to be the Summer homes for the rich and famous from New York, both historically and present day, including Meryl Streep, who has a house on the edge of one of the lakes. Unfortunately Tricia and John were not on first name basis - oh well.........
