... saw miles and miles and miles of strawberry farms with hundreds of pickers -- we thank them for all their back breaking work to get strawberries to market. The elevation here is 717 feet, and the high for both days has been 70 degrees, the low 50 degrees, and it's been sunny. Tomorrow we head north along Hwy. 101 to Santa Margarita, where we'll be for 5 days. I wonder if they have good margaritas in Santa ...

With just a couple of miles to go and uninspired by the dinner ingredients, Steve dived into a roadside fish restaurant packed with (motor) bikers and came back with a pot of ceviche and a kilo of tortilla chips. Fifteen minutes later we were at the Leo Cabrillo campground and being directed to the hiker-biker area. This time, we were located just behind the waste disposal area - nice. ... We visited, and then walked the hills of a public conservancy area for an overview of the valley. We tried to visit the ranch of the inventor of the Gillette Safety Razor, King Camp Gillette, but the federal government was shut-down.
