Day 10 - We left Anaheim en route to Santa Barbara (Carpinteria) and had to make the requisite tourist visits to Hollywood and the Santa Monica Pier. Both had their share of weirdness with Hollywood taking the cake. ... and we needed the shade. As we set up, it didn't take long to realize we would have plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities. Our neighbors filled us in on the seal sanctuary just a short walk from the site and told us they'd seen numerous dolphins and whales the previous day. We had just landed ourselves in paradise! The parking lot style campsite doesn't bother you much when you never turn your eyes away from the ocean.

One hall is dedicated to rotating exhibits and they are currently showing stained-glass windows which are temporarily removed from Canterbury Cathedral, and an illuminated manuscript that is being studied at their research institute. ... 30 knot range. In an effort to keep the sand" flour" out of the boat we closed all windows, ports, vents and doors. And still the sand flour got into and onto everything - the bed, our shoes and all surfaces, be they vertical or horizontal, it didn't matter. The floors were covered as were the counter tops. Don't forget eyes and nose. All day our eyes burned like they do when you are very tired. Our noses got all stuffed up. Sleeping ...
