... we had our first walk on the beach, and the Will Roger's ranch where we had a free tour round his 138 acre property, on the way to visit Ruth and Charles Niestroy (Jim's brother).

... because compared to everywhere we have been so far you need to drive. The town was very cute and had lots of bars, restaurants and surf shops. Plus the beach had amazing surfing and an old board walk leading to a pier supported by higgledy piggledy wooden stilts with lots of people fishing from it or just watching the surfers set against the spectacular sunset. One hall is dedicated to rotating exhibits and they are currently showing stained-glass windows which are temporarily removed from Canterbury Cathedral, and an illuminated manuscript that is being studied at their research institute. ... we respond affirmatively, they all say that it's notorious for eating dinghy's. We wish they had put that in the brochure.

We were successful in getting what we came to Oxnard for. Our new glasses have been ordered through Costco and should be ready and waiting for us in San Diego.

The big new experience here was one we wish we hadn't had; Santa Anna winds. Most of us have all heard about these but to live through them ...
