Monday night, our last night in Topeka, there was a thunder storm like no other we've ever been in. The rain was coming down in sheets and the wind was blowing really hard. The motor home was even shaking. The Resort had a storm shelter in the campground and at one point we almost decided to go to it but were afraid we wouldn’t make it in all the wind and rain. ... we toured the site on the Missouri river where Lewis and Clark stopped going and coming from their expedition. Our final stop was the Glore Psychiatric Museum. Tomorrow is the Arabia Steamboat Museum.

I liked the engraving on the wine barrel at Beachaven. Plus je bois, mieux je chante. (The more I drink, the better I sing.) Since I can't sing at all, a little wine can only help. The drive through St. Louis was picturesque thanks to all the architecture of all the old buildings. Don't bother with the bypass, just drive right through the center of town.

Surprise, surprise! I found a couple of wineries close by so we headed over to try them out.

The first one, Jowler Creek Winery was only 6 miles from the RV Park. They were having a special wine and cheese paring for Mothers Day along with a coupon for a free cupcake at their sister winery in Weston. An offer we (I) couldn't pass up. They had a Norton red wine that is described as the Syrah of the Ozarks. They also ...
