After about 30 minutes of zooming around, Jens (our German guide) spotted a solitary black bear on the beach. They come out onto the beach at low tide to eat grass or look for crab under the rocks. ... which isn't unusual in August. The guide was part of a First Nation (aboriginal tribe) from the Arctic and had a wealth of knowledge about the plants and their medicinal properties.
