We arrived at Tofino after a wet and foggy drive and a couple of hikes through Canada's version of the rain forest, including, yes, some big trees. We checked into our room and went exploring the town of Tofino and the local beaches, bars and restaurants. We lucked out and found a sunny ocean front bar where the local fishermen were tossing entrails to the sea lions and had a pints worth of entertainment. ...

... t pair up like that except for courting and mating but it was a little early for that yet. They were stunningly beautiful, elegant and breathtaking. They stayed very close to us and I got great pictures, even a couple tail shots! You don't see those very often with grey whales, only when they're diving deep do you see their tails.

I was hoping to see some orcas, which are in the area, but no such luck. ...

... for the Botanical Gardens, where we traded in those tickets for etched wine glasses and let the feasting begin.

On site, there were about forty BC wineries, four breweries, and about ten local restaurants and food producers. We tried reds, whites, ciders, beers, mead, bubbly, and tea. We ate tuna tartar, salmon crostini, shrimp, multiple cheeses, oysters and chocolate.
