... drive back up the coast we arrived and after meeting Steven our host for the day it was soon apparent it would be an entertaining day. First off it was introductions, while Steven got everything setup then it was straight into it.

First up was to to hammer out the of the knife while adding carbon to the cutting face by heating the steel up in hot coals then till red then smacking it with a hammer on an anvil.

... accident up in front and we could be here for some time. The issue we had was that the roads are only single lane and we could not turn the bus around, so whatever happened, we were staying here for a while.

The had to bring in an air ambulance to airlift the bike rider to hospital. We did walk down to have a look what had happened and it looks as though a car was pulling out across the road ...

... ziemlich ruhig und wir mussten echt paddeln damit wir vorwaerts kommen, an manchen stellen gings dann richtig ab und es war wie wildwaterrafting und wir hatten echt viel spass, allerdings waren wir die ganze zeit mitm halben koerper im wasser und nach ca. der haelfte der strecke musste narelle einfach raus, ihr war ueber kalt und sie konnte gar nicht aufhoeren zu zittern...es war echt arschkalt, um ehrlich zu sein und windig und da wir nichts an uns hatten, kein ...

The town's major industries include fishing, mining, forestry, and ecotourism, the latter two of these industries holding an uneasy relationship with each other. The Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki, 45 km to the north are a popular local tourist attraction, while many also pass through on the route to or from the glaciers to the south.
Unfortunatly we didn't visit neither Pancake Rocks neither the glaciers. We have choosen for the Alps with destination Arthur's Pass ...
