    ... off of 101 just south of Astoria OR. This is the beach with the famous Haystack Rock that shoots 300 feet into the air right off the beach. Amazing. 20 minutes on this beautiful beach changed the day for Anne...suddenly 5-6 hours on the bike was nothing! The day had warmed up to 80 and we were soon on the road again headed north to Raymond WA.

    ... through the Quinalt Indian Reservation. The point at which we decided to stop for the night was a spot where US-101S was not next to the Pacific,, so we had to make a turn to head further west.. the name of the town where we made this turn was called Humptulips, WA. I don't know where they get some of these names, but that was the actual name.

    ... toward Tacoma which has two military bases, Ft. Lewis and McChord AFB where we were going to stay. The Washington State CAA was close by, at least that is what we thought! Sue was checking on the location and she found out that the original one had been disabled and a new one was located one the West Coast on 101 which we had just left about 60 miles back in Oregon.
