          ... maybe we will treat ourselves to a dinner while we are here a few nights. We have ordered extra filters and will pick them up downstream at Lock 1 on Friday, so we will try to stay here until that time. We'll take advantage of the close walk to the store and stock up on more food before we leave. I might even do a real laundry instead of washing a few items at a time in the sink because that's not a far walk ...

          ... and their historical society has done a wonderful job of marking sites, but I find it loud and busy for a small town. The park area we are in however is very peaceful.... all we here are ducks and blue jays. We will move on to Lock # 5 in a day or so where we are told we can dock overnight in a pretty park, and then on to Mechanicville at Lock #3. ...

          ... I hadn't moved at all. The water was pretty low but mostly we could paddle along. There were probably a half dozen "rapids" along the way - none seemed dangerous - not really fast moving or much swirling, but a lot of potential of getting stuck. It was a very pleasant paddle - great clouds - the water wasn't that cold even though I never took off my wool socks and goretex pants.
