... Zoey. At 1700 they lower the flag with more bugle playing and canon fire. This happens everyday , and we can hear it each time. We left the campground early, and drove out to Pikes Peak Road. We stopped on the way and bought sandwiches at Panera . We picnicked on the way up the mountain at a nice little picnic area. Today is the big day! I am traveling from Colorado Springs, CO, USA to Birmingham, UK. I had to wake up nice and early at 330 am for this trip. This is my second international trip (first was to the Bahamas) and first international trip alone. I arrives at the airport at 425am. The airport was empty so checking in and going through security was easier and faster than normal.

... It's a long walk down!

One of the delightful experiences we encountered on the trip was our seat-mates, Erline and Mike who were a delightful couple from Texas heading to the state of Washington. We had great conversations both going up and returning.

On the way home we stopped and picked up some dinner and had it back in our room.

... Gods, and as we passed the sign the odds leaned heavier in their favor. We were happy we did, because it really was amazing! The sun came out and really lit up the red rocks, and each structure was different, awe-inspiring, and dwarfing. Plus, we also had a great view of Pike's Peak from there.
