... We used this as a base to see some of the local national parks and other sights

One of the most interesting was a place called O'Reilleys in Lamington National Park(a 40km tortuous drive up a thousand meters) but with fantastic views at the top

As well as a number of shorter trips we spent a full day on the Gold Coast's Surfers Paradise.

We caught the new tram (in service for only a month) from one end ...

... the morning. We noticed that 2 sheep always stayed in the enclosure durning the day. We thought they might not be allowed out, nope, we asked Sylvia and she told us they could never find there way out through the gate, even when shown, so the boys decided to nickname them, "Dumb & Dumber", it really stuck, as each day we would go and feed them we would call there name and over they would come for there bread. ... Janice and Steve had, so we bought the same ones. Ray also bought a fishing hat. Loaded up with our goodies, we headed back to camp for lunch. After lunch Steve helped Ray set up his line. ... nice walk all the way up, and there a beautiful view over the ocean! A little lower I saw these two fishermen enjoying the view too it seemed, ah no, they seemed to have catched something ;-)

Back on the main land I walked a little around, a nice little market on sunday, with music, crafts for sale and of course food ;-)

I prefered a little mini café with wiggel waggel chairs and tables, took a hamburger and sat there listening to an Irishman telling funny ...

... cooked lunch it was finally time for us to do what we were here to do, HELP!!

In the garden a chook pen had been taken over by Wisteria and Choko Vine so we set to with sheers and clippers to find the original pen. We salvaged as many roots of the Wisteria as we could in the hope that it could be replanted in a more apt place and after a couple of hours we finally found the original fence.
