... nice to do the Mail Boat Run around Pelorus Sound www.themailboat.co.nz . They only go three times a week and we have always hit the wrong day, however, this year, our ***** were firmly in gear and we pre-booked! The boat was fairly full – about 35 passengers, mostly Brits and the Skipper, Jim, was Scottish. The weather was fabulous, hot and sunny, clear blue skies, the water was calm and clear. ... br> 7. I got some epic Christmas presents this year that have been ESSENTIAL on this trip!!!
1. Convertible hiking pants from Mom. SO comfortable but so tough and durable for weeding and working in the garden! Compression bags have been really good for fitting everything in my bag too.
2. Hiking shoes from Dad and Terry. The gore tex on these shoes has been SO good for dew in the mornings working outside and once the mud dries it just falls right ...

... one fellow flew passed me at the speed of light crashing his two sticks into the ground like an Olympic ski champion. I watched in awe as he disappeared into the distance.
Further we walked amongst the trees on an endless uphill path, until eventually the forest began to thin and the mountains beyond were revealed in all their splendour. I felt as though I had journeyed to the top of the world for the mountain tops disappeared into the clouds and the land below ...

It rained all day so i spent the day being educating while it rained and rained and rained and rained and rained and rained and rained and rained and one for luck and it rained and rained. In the evening there was something hurling its self at the window which we found out was an Morpork which is a type of owl and there was a rat in the the tree and a new Zealand's biggest moth trying too get into my bed ...

After this we called at Gibson Bridge, a small boutique vineyard and did a tasting, the first of many I am sure. The future plan is to drive back to our lodge and visit vineyards within walking distance for another tasting, today that was Giesen.
