... is an annual event. The village women and children gather to tie torn strips of clear plastic bags to every branch and twig of a dead tree, which the men have brought to the breezy eating hut beside Sulpecia's house. Decorations are crafted from corn husks and bamboo and coloured plastic bags. It truly was beautiful. Sulpecia invited me to their annual Christmas party for the children. Taking it easy day today. We learnt that missed an earthquake on Sunday when we were out on the boat at Abel Tasman - we didn't notice the water wobble. ... and I hooked a Blue Cod. Over the next hour and a bit we pulled out almost thirty fish. Along with the Blue Cod the colourful Maori Chief was the most hooked fish.
Once we had enough for lunch and some to take home, we headed back a few kilometers to a spot closer to shore where Paul could go Paua diving. Paua is a sea snail unique to New Zealand and one of their biggest exports. Their shells are an amazing array of colours resembling an oil slick. We ...

... Drove straight to Blenheim where I was confronted by a very unwelcoming check in guy, WE'RE FULL .... Wow, didn't say so on the sign.
