      Our drive to Galena through the corn fields has many more hills than I expected. We went by the farm and home where Linda grew up. It is sad to see that time and a new owner have not kept the place up. Time marches on.

      ... grain (Corn)" comes to mind and the fields are overflowing. The corn is taller than I can remember. This is “elephant’s eye height” country.

      ... a few folks walked out to meet us. Turns out they were the FBO owner and his sons, and for the week of Oshkosh, in addition to especially inexpensive fuel ($5.01/gal when the rest of the country was $6 or more), they also put on a free lunch of barbecued pork sandwiches, homemade deserts, and just good old fashioned hospitality. This is what aviation in America should be - I just wish that there were more places like it.
