... live music, a hiker talent show, and a whole lot more. It pretty much sweeps up most of the hikers within a few hundred miles either direction of Damascus, and the town is completely overrun with hiker trash, so much so that they create an entire area called Tent City to house them all and run shuttle back and forth constantly. I was on the fence about going, because it sounds like fun but it requires going back to Damascus and taking three days off the trail, but ...

... of mental disorder--his behavior is SO socially dysfunctional that it seems to me that he must otherwise know it--but maybe he's just a big jerk!), so we left.

Tomorrow, we will figure out something to do during the day, and then we're going to a drive-in in the evening. It's playing, alas, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but we're four hours from home and won't have many chances to get this far west in Virginia to pick up the drive-in, so we're going anyway!

Instead of going to the ballgame, we spent the evening at WalMart and the Dollar Tree looking for rain ponchos. We are scheduled for a 4-hour ATV tour tomorrow morning, and it will go even if there are thunderstorms, which are predicted. We, of course, brought everything we could possibly need (and then some) except rain gear. Umbrellas will not be useful on an ATV, ...

This was the second time to the New River Gorge. It was actually my goodbye trip, on my way down to SC. Grace, #1 Matt and Lee joined me on some climbing adventures before I moved to flat ground. Fox was up there at the same time so we got to see him for the first day but he disappeared the next. It was a great time, but the weather was ****** the whole time.
