What a surprise - only a 15-20 minute drive north of all the restaurants, park models, shopping, and traffic, and here we are in a beautiful desert environment, surrounded by cacti and beautiful views everywhere we look! It feels NOTHING like the area we left behind - feels so remote!

    ... my entire face numb it was hard to talk and felt really strange! Took a couple of hours – maybe more –for it to wear off and talking was difficult.     Thursday wasThanksgiving so Mark and Svetlana picked us up for our first mountain hike.. we drove to the Mcdowell mountains and parked at the base, in 124th street ,ready to climb the Sunrise Trail.. this trail straddles the mountainous divide between Scottsdale and Fountain hills.
