    ... sights of gondolas, water taxis, a multitude of mask merchants... and the sun (when we can), as it is quite cold... until we finally find St Marcs piazza. Not only is the Duomo massive, as they all are, but the surrounding buildings are impressive in the extreme. Archway after archway completely surrounding the square (which was flooded only 3 days ago following a wet cold front that passed through Europe). Carnivale in full swing with ...

    ... act in a different room in the palazzo. With only 35 guests, it was reminiscent of how music was performed to wealthy patrons in the 1800s. Everything was done in period costume and even much of the lighting was by candlelight. Another marvellous experience.

    Venice has certainly lived up to my expectations. It has been truly memorable.

    Next stop, Vienna!

    ... kind of cute �� Settled in and then went for a wander around the many streets and alleyways of Venice. It is an incredible place, like a maze with every turn taking you to another nook and hidden cranny. Dinner tonite was at the hotel - entree of asparagus lasagne, then chicken supreme (mushroom sauce) with grilled veggies, and finished off with fresh fruit salad and vanilla bean ice cream. This was one of the best meals we have had on tour. ...

    ... at different cafés and decided on one close to the center square. I had the most delicious cheese and spinach tortellini and took my sweet time eating it. I love hanging out with groups of people but there are times when I just need some time on my own as well, so this was a much needed treat.
