Having said a sad farewell to Jules, Mark and Erin, we left the Amalfi and Sorrento coast and headed back up through Italy to spend a couple of nights in Tuscany in an old Villa hotel called Casa Volpi, en route to the Dolomites. The Piazza and all of the village was dressed up with olive trees, branches and lots of vines. There were about 10 "cantinas" to visit . We wandered ...

... restaurant offered a tasting flight of Montepulciano wines, including the renowned Nobile. The last wine was corked (even to my hopeless palate) so we sent it back. We suspect that the waiter was more affronted than us. He made a grand show of opening a fresh bottle at the table and warning us that old wine was prone to sediment . . . We smiled and thanked him and this time enjoyed the wine. Beautiful wine, great food, terrific views, lots of nooks and crannies to ...
