      ... are some modern fountain sculptures, the Plague column and pretty coloured historical buildings along its edges. We must have a thing about going to places undergoing construction, because much of the old town was undergoing some pretty major refurbishment work so there were tractors and diggers and scaffolding blocking some streets.       ... On the subject of signs, it's very pleasing to see very few traffic or other signs around, no sign clutter!! There's a lot to like about this part of Germany, the people are helpful, friendly, courteous to cyclists and go quietly about their work. The only downside I can see is their smoking habits, everyone smokes! There are cigarette vending machines in hotels, in the streets and even the side of the road, a pack of twenty costs ...

      ... personalities & dignitaries and is a huge building on a hilltop. Saw several large freight barges on the Danube and another cruise ship this morning.
