... of ignorance and illiteracy! Ungrateful little *******s. As a substitute, we headed back down the road and went to the Royal Palace Museum, a museum set up in the former palace of Lao's now extinct monarchy. This was rather dull and disappointing, and I can't really be ***** to write about it as I fear it would bore me. There were various artefacts, the king and queen's bedroom, and far too many statues of ...

Next time I will though, no, next time I'll make sure I have a better seat, especially if I paid extra for a more luxurious bus.

I have to say the scenery was stunning though. We went over very high mountains and had views of deep ravines and valleys, green greener greenest.
<br ...
Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep cecilia74Bonjour,

Lucky I got out of there!

Today we got a tuk tuk out to see Kouang Si Waterfall in Luang Prabang. Saw loads of tiny villages along the way with all school children on their bicycles. Waterfall was fabulous. We walked along a mud path the whole way up step after step of waterfalls. There were lots of pools to swim in and it was so beautiful! On our way now to see a night market that ...

I opted for the Mao Lao (Drunk Lao) while Emma had a Pink Gay.

A few hours later we returned to riverbank for dinner and were lucky to see the boat teams parading through the streets. The first one was carrying a trophy. We thought they were the tournament winner until we saw many more teams pass holding the same trophy. Maybe this is the first sport in history where everyone is a winner.

At the hostel, and I'm looking at them now, they use two small ends of bombs for pen holders. They're roughly 10 inches in height and it's just the fins of the bomb, the stem, and half of the head, pretty interesting.
Back to the night. I rallied the troops around 7:30. We went and ate first. I scarfed down some chicken and garlic and walked over to the court. Some locals were playing 4 on 4 ...

Officially any other place after this time was not really supposed to be open for drinking/partying purposes. Never to be deterred and in the ever resourcefulness of backpackers, we found there were exceptions to this rule.
