ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilman... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city I´d love to visit once a year minimum.....
Nice, Provence, France tilman... upon me it feels very strange and somewhat daunting. But to my knowledge no one has ever died from teaching children so I am sure I will survive.... My Amazon book order should arrive soon to inspire me. I am really looking forward to discovering the 100 things you can do with a paper plate. Life is never going to be the same!!
More when I start travelling...
... hand lounge chairs. Thus we have to be pretty organised - everything has a home and has to go back there as soon as you've finished with it. This also means that every takes a long time... so our alarm goes off at 6,30am. This gives us 30 min to awake from our sleepy haze then coffee and breakfast 1/2 hr. Then make the bed into table and chairs. Change into running gear and run round the current place of abode. Shower and dress... even if we did everything with military ...
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... curly so it really isn't surprising that accidents are a regular occurrence.
Monaco is the world's second smallest country (after Vatican City) less than 2 square km, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in decadence! Streets are manicured, lavish hotels and casinos line the waterfront, and the harbour is chock a block with gigantic, plush boats.
Once we arrived we visited the Palais du Prince (or ...
... Dee tentatively organised herself an appointment for some 'girly stuff'. She had inquired at the hostel if they knew of anywhere, as she was a bit scared to wait til Spain, unsure of what she might end up with. After locating the recommended place, Dee tried to explain what she required to the lady - who spoke no English - so there were some very amusing hand gestures. Dee was dreading the experience slightly as she hoped her request had been understood ok. She should not have stressed as ...
Nice, Provence, France dan-and-deeLeave from nice on the Chemins de fer de Province (diesel train) to Touet-sur-Var. And then the steam train to Entrevaux, city with amazing views. On the way back a quick stop in Puget-Théniers.
My camera battery died once we hit Entrevaux so no photos :(
... night made it that more fun. I must admit, I get scarred pretty easy watching horror movies, so as you can imagine, walking the windy low lite streets of Old Town was a bit out of my comfort zone. Walking the streets without a map was challenging until we heard drums beating wildly down an alley. To our surprise, 12 mummies had put together a drum parade through the allies and had an audience following them all over. It was totally amusing to watch. Check out the video;)
Nice, France mynicolita... pictures of the sky over-filled with stars, but I didn't know it was possible to see this many stars in real life! Inside again, we drank some gin and juice. And the night went on like this. Laughter and talk. Satu and I bothered Karo when she talked with her boyfriend. I tried telling him that "Le bourgeoise est stupide." We called my friends so Satu could read them some norwegian. We played with cards and did card tricks and foreseeing. Somewhere between 3 and 4, we went to bed.
Mouans-Sartoux, France sunrisesolo... like a dream place and indeed it was- if you were wealthy enough to live out those dreams! Walking across the boarder we walked along and around the port filled with more luxury yachts- probably the most amazing ones we had seen so far in the trip. We then walked up the hill to the Palais du Prince and took in the spectacular views of glamorous Monaco which covers a mere 1.95 sq km. From the cliff the fantasy land glistened beneath the towering cliffs ...
