      ... described how her family's business works. The cane is first run through the grinder to remove the leaves and squeeze out the juice. Then they cook it in these big pools and strain it out when it reaches the correct texture. We got to taste a lot of the different stages, and enjoyed a refreshing traditional drink made with water with lemon and fresh brown sugar.

      ... off to bed early, but I stayed up playing cards and meeting some more people from the hostel - couple of boys from Australia, an israeli girl, a man from Slovenia - quite a mixed bag!       Well as I sit here in Costa Rica awaiting my flight home in the morning, I am feeling quite overwhelmed when I look back over the past 7 months.       My mom loves dance music and had a good time mingling with teen Ticos (there were a Lot of families on the side too). Yaco sang a song called "Welcome to Costa Rica" twice-- we appreciated his gesture, lol. The concert was a nice way to wrap up the day on a good note. Too bad we didn't take our cameras! We were too tired and miserable coming down the mountain today to take a lot of pictures ...
