April 24th We woke up at 5 am much to the dislike of the other barrel spring campers I'm sure. Packing was quick and trail was underfoot by 5:20. Warner springs had filled our heads with ideas of hiker hospitality galore. We passed quickly into a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and wide open pastures. We waved bye-bye to the Grand Hyatt and to Downtown and headed east. We went uphill and we went downhill. With the three of us and all our lugguage, the poor car had to work quite hard to get us over the hills. It didn't take long after leaving the city to find ourselves in the wilderness.
