Traveled today from Grand Portage, MN to Bemidji, MN. On the way, we missed Betty's Pies. The parking lot was packed full, no place for the truck and coach.

Bemidji is the home of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe. We checked out the statue by Lake Bemidji while on our way to dinner. We will spend the overnight here and head to Detroit Lakes, MN tomorrow.

On the way back to my cabin I came across Leesburg Bambi's cousins. Good thing I was going slow and able to stop and let them cross.

... season was two months!!! We then drove to an area they call The Picture Rocks which are gorgeous cliffs and sand dunes! It has tons of caves and in the winter people visit the caves where huge ice cicles hang. I will just imagine that!!! :-) We then drove to Duluth Minnesota to watch the tall ship parade. They have a wonderful harbor area and they have a festival of tall ships come through every year. This year they had ...

... ox statue. Paul Bunyan is the most famous and popular North American folklore heroes, he is usually described as a giant and a lumberjack of unusual skill, and is usually accompanied in stories by his animal companion, Babe the Blue Ox.

Tomorrow I will be following Rt. 2 to Ashland WI on Lake Superior. I'm looking forward to seeing the lake for the first time.
