When Ron came back we spent a couple of hours choosing to keep or jettison food, packing clothes, shoes, stuff....amazed at how we managed to get the car loaded....and, of course we have the canoe and bicycle on the roof of the car ...

We arrived before dark at the KOA campground just west of Bemidji, after crossing the very beginnings of the mighty Mississippi River that is a small creek here. The next day we met our next-site neighbours Bill and Karen Head from Winnipeg. After checking out, we drove into town where we saw the giant statues of Paul Bunyan (wearing a Shriner's fez) and Babe the Blue Ox, a little yellow submarine, and some fanciful statues made from scrap metal parts.
